Bermuda shorts for men: 3 looks for the office:

In many offices, traditional bermuda shorts for men are considered acceptable business attire when temperatures rise above the 25-degree mark. In certain occupations, especially those of a creative kind, the dress code is somewhat relaxed. However, if you’re employed with a more conventional company or in field sales, it’s best to wear long, lightweight cloth pants and only sport the following three looks in your spare time.

1. Jacket to match the pants:

Classic suits don’t necessarily have to include full-length pants. There are some bermuda shorts around in typical suit fabric which look great teamed up with a shirt or jacket. Shorts made from linen are also a good alternative. Bermudas featuring a regular or very narrow cut make for a stylish outfit in combination with a jacket, shirt and necktie. Low-cut shoes, such as loafers or elegant moccasins, bring the look together.

2. Twill bermudas with casual jacket:

Ensembles consisting of contrasting fabrics and colors make a welcome change from suits. Simple bermudas made from twill or sturdy cotton are the best option here. To avoid looking over-casual, classic office colors, such as black, dark-blue or gray, are the most appropriate.

What not to wear: Bermudas with a beach impression and, above all, a beach pattern, are a no-no for the office. Vibrant colors, such as grass green or pink, are also best reserved for leisure time activities. Pants in subdued tones can be teamed up with a showy casual jacket to add a touch of color. Bold checks and textured fabrics, contrasting buttons and colored detailing provide some extra visual interest.

3. Mono and stereo:

If dress etiquette at the office is not too strict or you need to roll up your sleeves, it’s possible to adapt the outfit to suit the occasion. In plain language, that means bermuda shorts for men can be worn with a classic men’s shirt. The rule about choosing classic colors applies here too, but with this combo, dark to medium shades of blue are also allowed.

Opt for a shirt in gleaming white or featuring bold colored stripes in shades of blue to form a striking contrast with the pants. Alternatively, you can choose a shirt in the same color as the pants, thus creating a mono look. Even though a jacket isn’t a must, you can definitely still wear a necktie. As far as the latter is concerned, there’s no limit to the possibilities; the wearer is free to live out his passion for silk ties. A skillfully tied knot enhances the impact.

On the subject of shoes: Just because you’re wearing short pants doesn’t mean you can go mad with the rest of the outfit. Shoes, in particular, make a statement about the nature of the outfit. Office shoes are therefore a must.

Bermuda shorts are generally accepted business attire, so feel free to wear them to the office.
