Diversify Your Denim with Gray Jeans

Blue denim has proved its versatility and popularity for hundreds of years as the go-to pant for workers, rebellious youth and everyone in between. While its reign will never fade, denim’s color options extend past blue and black. A prime example? Gray—a subtle and light neutral that’s at its best in a pair of jeans.

Incorporate slate or charcoal denim into your extensive blue jean repertoire. It’s time to take the focus off one color and put it on another.

Soft and Subtle

Light gray jeans, Whether they ‘re boyfriend, skinny or flared, give your lower half a softer look than typical blue denim. These pale bottoms have a lighter grain, which makes them more polished and put together than rugged old blue jeans. Wear them with a flowy silk blouse and suede boots to emphasize their soft nature.

New Neutral

Take your neutral palettes into a gray area. Black and white are bold, too, but gray brings something new to denim and your wardrobe as a whole. It can go with the colors and clothes you already love. Charcoal gray complements hot jewel tones, like maroon, dark blue and emerald, while a paler gray looks luxe with baby pink, yellow and mint.

Remaster Monochrome

A look of head-to-toe gray in varying shades is unbelievably chic and refined. The key is to wear a different hue with each piece of the ensemble. Try a gunmetal gray pair of pants with a heathered, light gray V-neck T-shirt. Pair them with cognac strappy shoes to introduce a warm and complementing hue.

Gray jeans are just as worthy of the sartorial spotlight as black and blue. Give them the chance to prove they do denim even better.
