Tips For Maintaining Your Linen Pants

All clothes deserve tender loving care, and linen pants are no exception. They’re a must-have for scorching temperatures, but a long day of sitting and sweating can take a toll on your linen. Durable and stretch-resistant, count on the fabric to bounce back after a long day of wrinkles.

Part of having good fashion sense is knowing how to keep your clothes in top shape.

Use the Gentle Cycle

Linen, unlike many other fabrics, is strong while wet. But just like with jeans, bras and underwear, do a separate, gentle load for your linen bottoms. Dirt comes off linen easily, so hand-washing is another alternative.

Tumble Dry at High Heat

Despite popular belief, you can put linen in the dryer because it can withstand high temperatures. Initial shrinkage will happen, however. If you bought your pants perfectly fitted, hang dry them instead. It’s also better to leave linen slightly damp to prepare for steaming.

Steam the Creases

Ironing may not be fun, but when it comes to linen pants it has to be done. Since the fabric has little elasticity, it creases before you know it. Consider investing in a steamer to make working out the wrinkles less of a chore.

Reserve a Hanger Spot

Folding drawers just won’t do. You’ll waste all the energy you put into washing, drying and steaming your pants by folding them. Designate a spot in your closet where they won’t be crushed by other clothes. This way, the linen will stay nice and smooth.

Show your linen love and give it the attention it deserves. Get the most out of your linen pants and take a stance against wrinkles.
