Wear It Like A French Girl

Anyone who has been to high school in Paris (obviously all of us) will know there’s simply no other bag to carry. Walk into any French school and you’ll stand before a sea of the lightweight nylon bags, in a multitude of different colors. They’re toted around by teens with perfect makeup-less skin, slender figures and heads carried high. But no one grows out of a Longchamp bag.

The tote is now popular around the world, worn by women looking for an everyday bag big enough to carry a Mary Poppins-load of stuff, yet nice enough to go with their outfit. But on those days when you don’t want to stick to your routine, take a page out of the Parisian woman’s handbook and dress up your Longchamp bag with a few signature pieces.

With a Beret

Nothing says “Ooh Là Là” like a beret. These woolen caps are the quintessential Parisian style symbol, and you’ll feel like an icon just by daring to put one on your head.

With Stripes

Mimic the mimes with black and white or navy and white stripes. There’s something so simple about stripes—anything that’s a pattern but is still so unassuming is a win in our books.

With All-Black

It’s true, French girls (not New Yorkers… Or Jay-Z) pioneered the all-black-everything look. With such a minimalistic style, the most natural thing to do is throw on a black tee and black skinny jeans in the morning.

With Red Lipstick

And no other makeup. French women tend to wear little-to-no makeup, so unless you have the “au naturel” look down, dare to go barefaced… Except a swipe of ruby red on your lips.

With Care

Lean towards well-tailored clothes in expensive fabrics and clean cuts. If there’s one thing the French know how to do well—besides making perfectly-crafted pastries – it’s how to make quality clothes.

With one of these totes hanging from the crook of your arm, you can pretend you’re the peak of chic—even if you’re just running to the post office. So grab your Longchamp, put “La Vie En Rose” on repeat, and carry yourself with purpose and poise—you’re a Parisienne now.

Make a Longchamp bag your staple accessory and voilà! You’re basically French.
