These 7 beauty products should be refrigerated
Just like it’s important to refrigerate what you put into your body, there are a handful of beauty products that benefit from cooler temperatures. To extend the shelf life of your skincare and makeup and help preserve colour and texture, it’s helpful to invest in a mini beauty fridge for your vanity (unless you’re cool with trekking to the kitchen). These seven beauty products, for example, would benefit from a little chill.
- Lipsticks
If you live in a cooler climate, you’re probably fine to keep your lipsticks in your makeup bag but if you’re in an older building without air con, it’s not a bad idea to throw your favorite shades into a beauty fridge to help keep their texture and color.
- Eye Creams
If you have yet to experience the delight of a cool eye cream or face cream, we invite you to try it for yourself. Storing your eye creams in a skincare fridge (or next to your milk, whichever), can actually help to deflate your undereye bags faster than if the formula is left on your vanity. The cold constricts your blood vessels, therefore soothing swollen eyes.
- Eyeliner and Lipliner
To maintain the firm edges of your pencil product, store them in a beauty fridge. The cold will help keep their texture when you want a sharp cat-eye.
- Face Masks
Face masks, specifically those made with natural ingredients, perform at their best when refrigerated. Natural and organic ingredients tend to break down faster if left at room temperature, so it’s always better to be safe than sorry. Plus: a cool face mask + a glass of white is a fantastic way to end off your week.
- Facial Sprays
The same logic of face masks applies to facial sprays. Refrigerating your toners, rosewaters, and hydrating sprays can be calming to tired, stressed-out skin.
- Nail Polish
Nail polishes can be easily damaged and discolored by excess exposure to sunlight and heat. To maintain the ideal texture of nail polishes, keep your go-to shades in your beauty fridge.
- Liquid Makeup
To keep your makeup products for as long as possible, stick them in the fridge. Liquid makeup especially is prone to earlier expiration dates and keeping them cool can help to extend their shelflife.
