The best men’s skincare products, according to men
As a living, breathing woman, a devoted girls-girl, a former sorority sister, I am deeply familiar with the ins and outs of women’s skincare. K-beauty? Read this. Spot treatments? These will change your life. A non-abrasive peel? Here’s my ultra-affordable pick. But men’s skincare, well, that’s a little different.
To get the skinny on what’s good in men’s skincare, I did what any curious beauty writer would do and polled my male friends. Specifically, my male friends with fantastic skin. So, according to actual dudes, these are the best skincare products for guys.

Men's Beard Care
- Jack Black Beard Lube Conditioning Shave. “It’s less messy than foam and it’s moisturizing.” – Jon, age 26.
- Old Spice Beard Oil. “My beard is quite scratchy, so this helps.” – Trevor, age 27.
- Rene Furterer 5 SENS Enhancing Dry Oil. “It’s not designed for beards but I use it as my beard oil. It’s amazing. It’s expensive but you don’t need a lot of it so it lasts a while.” – Ian, age 29.
- Kiehl’s Nourishing Beard Oil. “It smells really good and is softening.” – Greg, age 30.
Men's Skincare
- Kiehl’s Facial Fuel Energizing Scrub. “I’ve been using [Kieh’s] face scrubs since I was a teenager. I’m a big fan. I have what many would classify as sensitive skin and this one has never bothered me.” – Matt, age 31.
- La Roche-Posay Effaclar Deep Cleansing Foaming Cream. “I use it every day, it’s a good product if you have oily skin.” – Jared, age 28.
- Aesop Protective Facial Lotion. “It’s important to have SPF in your skin routine, this moisturizer kills two birds with one stone. And on top of that, it has a non-greasy feel, which is hard to come by with SPFs.” – Shaun, age 29.
- Mario Badescu Drying Lotion. “I tend to examine my skin while I’m brushing my teeth before bed. If I see/feel a bad boy coming up, I put a bit of this cream on the spot before bed. Just like that, in the morning, the spot is either heavily tamed and reduced, or completely gone.” – Patrick, age 32.
