Why Korean skincare brands are obsessed with birch juice
Is birch water the new coconut water?
When I first heard about the birch juice buzz in skincare products, I thought to myself, “another one?” From coconut water to aloe juice, it seems like plant “super waters” are just about everywhere these days. What made birch juice so different?
Well, when it comes to skincare, birch juice has been found to reduce inflammation and both purify and hydrate skin. A study by the University of Lancaster even found that when planted in urban areas, birch trees brought pollution levels in the area down by more than 50%.
Birch juice is extracted from the tree in the same way that maple syrup is tapped from the maple tree. It has an abundance of amino acids, sugars, and minerals that help your skin retain moisture. Birch water is packed with the skin healing properties of vitamin B5 and vitamin B3, which evens out skin tone.
K-beauty brand E Nature is the latest beauty company rolling out birch juice products. One of their best sellers is the Birch Juice Hydro Sleeping Pack, a mask that deeply moisturizes your skin while you sleep. It’s formulated with 74% birch sap, so users really benefit from the ingredient. The sleeping mask is super hydrating and leaves your skin feeling and looking plump and fresh by morning.
E Nature also offers a Birch Juice Hydro Essence that can be used to prep your skin before your regular routine. The essence helps boost the effects of the skin care products you apply afterward. For best results, use right after cleansing and toning your skin.
So, what do you think? Is birch juice the ingredient you’ve been missing in your skincare routine?
