Shave less with these 6 hacks
You shave on Monday and by Tuesday afternoon, you’re already facing a 5 o’clock shadow. What’s up with that?! Aside from investing in laser hair removal, we’ve put together a few tips and tricks to help you shave less.
Q: Why do razor commercials never feature women with actual leg hair?
1. Exfoliation
Exfoliation is the number one way to help your shave last much, much longer. Why? Well because scrubbing before shaving not only removes dead skin cells, but it even frees ingrown hairs. This makes scrubs an absolute must for long-lasting, smooth legs.
2. Don't start with shaving
Whether you’re shaving in the shower or in the sink, you shouldn’t start with shaving. That’s because the skin has some time to acclimatize in the morning. Warm steam helps your pores open. Your razor is able to help you achieve a much deeper shave that way.
3. Replace your razor blades
Whether you buy a $5 or a $20 razor, you need to make sure that your blades are being replaced regularly. It’s not about the razor you use, but it’s about the sharpness of the blade. A sharp blade will result in a more precise shave, while a dull blade might just end up cutting you and irritating the skin.
4. Shaving Cream < Shaving Oil
Shaving cream might feel nice, but shaving oil is better. The foam keeps the razor slightly away from the skin, while the oil helps the blades glide directly over the skin. This means that the hairs are cut a little deeper.
5. Soak the blade before shaving
Soaking the blade in hot water before shaving will help the steel blade cut and slide better. The hairs are thus shaved directly on the skin’s surface, so it takes longer for them to regrow.
6. Shave against the growth direction
This will result in a shave that is closer to the hair root. Your skin will feel smoother, longer. Win, win, win!
