The Best Friends Showing How The Same Lipstick Looks On Different Skin Tones

There are a million and one color illusions on the internet that try to illustrate what every woman who’s ever borrowed a friend’s lipstick already knows: a color can totally transform depending on what background it’s on. And yes, we know what you are wondering, it is for the same reason that the world couldn’t figure out what color “the dress” was, that your friend’s mauve lipstick looks amazing on her and terrible on you (read the science here).

Now, shedding light on this one-color-doesn’t-fit-all conundrum, is the Instagram account that has become an overnight sensation: @ willitlookgoodonmetho  (“Will it look good on me though”)

The account is run by two friends, Piaget “Pia” Ventus and Michelle Meredith, one of whom is black with dark hair and the other fair-skinned with freckles. On it, the girls share selfies showing how the same lipstick looks on both a light and a dark skin tone. The difference can sometimes be drastic.

Sure, they may not be able to highlight the full spectrum of skin tones between the two of them, but that’s not the only thing this account has to offer. Featuring a variety of wearable and daring hues from your standard red to bold blues, the IG is packed with IRL lipstick inspiration, affordable brands and each photo features witty commentary that keeps us double tapping even when the color choice is questionable.
