5 Loewe dupes if you don’t want to pay for the real thing

It’s officially our favourite time of the year: new bag season! While it may lack distinction on a calendar, all fashion girls will recognize the welcoming of a new season with the opportunity to buy a new bag. And this year, we have our eyes set on a luxury Loewe bag. The Spanish fashion house reigns supreme for its stunning leather goods, resort-style ready-to-wear, and, of course, its chic selection of bags and accessories.

The only issue is the steep price tags that come along with the Loewe label. With some Loewe bags creeping past $5,000/£4,500, a Loewe handbag is no impulse buy (unless, let’s say, you’re Hollywood royalty).

Because we’re all about finding designer looks for less, here are five dupes if you don’t want to pay for the real thing.

Paula’s Ibiza Basket Bag has skyrocketed in popularity among the influencer crowd, featuring a hand-woven raffia body, leather handles, and an embossed leather patch with the Loewe logo. However, with an average price hovering around $650/£500, we would think twice before bringing the raffia tote to a sand-covered beach. Instead, for equally destination-worthy accessories, check out the Cala tote by Hereu. Available in both raffia and canvas, the Cala features an attractive geometric design for under $400/£300.

The Basket Bag isn’t the only raffia tote from the Paula’s Ibiza collection we’ve got our eyes on. The Font Logo Tote is the perfect summer carryall in everything except its rather large price tag. If paying just under $2,000/£1,400 for a raffia tote seems like a splurge, consider Annie Bing’s Rio tote, which features a similar rectangular shape and contrasting logo design.

Known for its distinctive squishy handle, the Loewe Squeeze hobo bag is one of the Maison’s signature designs. The ruched detailing and signature donut chain add to the feeling of softness evoked by this bag, which can be worn crossbody or on the shoulder. It retails for over $4,000/£3,000 in both the medium and small sizes, making it quite the investment. Luckily, finding bags with a similar vibe was easy as pie. Le Tanneur’s large Juliette bag evokes the Squeeze’s egg-like shape with a more structured and geometric composition, while DeMellier’s Miami tote embodies the Squeeze’s squishiness more closely, and also features a chain handle.

Inspired by Loewe’s archives, the Paseo bag has a completely unique look, composed of pleats, tubular handles, and an ironic dumpling-like shape. With the small size retailing at around $3,000/£2,000 and the regular size at $3,450/£2,350, a more affordable alternative might be needed. DeMellier once again comes in clutch with the Midi New York tote, which features a similarly modern silhouette for a fraction of the price.

The one, the only, the Loewe Puzzle bag. What has arguably become the brand’s most sought-after accessory, the leather Puzzle bag doesn’t come cheap. Ranging from $2,300/£1,650 to $4,200/£3,000, the Puzzle shoulder bag is made distinct by its panelled silhouette and rolled top handle. Check out Aesther Ekme’s Mini Lune crossbody bag for a similar structural feel and geometric design. Aesther Ekme specialises in handbags designed in Denmark, focusing on purified and sculptural aesthetics. The mini Lune’s asymmetrical design and overlapping magnetic closure are reminiscent of the Puzzle’s angular shape for a fraction of the price.

The Flamenco clutch and shoulder bags are some of the most quintessentially LOEWE silhouettes, up there with the Puzzle bag. Its signature soft leather design features a gathered top and knotted drawstring to open and close it. While prices for this bag range from $2,350/£1,650 for the Mini to $3,900/£2,800 for the Pleated Nappa clutch, Studio Amelia offers a way more affordable option. The Alexandra Drawstring and the Alexandra Petite feature the same soft, squishy design and crossbody chain detail for under $400/£450.
