Pop star, model, actress, Cambridge alumna, and fashion icon: Rina Sawayama truly can do it all! Japanese-born and London-raised, the multi-hyphen superstar is not only one of the most interesting and influential pop artists today, but also a fashion tastemaker to follow closely.

At Givenchy’s FW23 Paris Fashion Week show, Rina dabbled in the current double (and even triple!) denim trend. She paired a matching denim set composed of a bra top and a midi skirt with a darker wash denim trench coat, angular frame sunglasses, silver jewellery, black boots, and a black leather handbag.

Denim really is one of Rina’s wardrobe staples! For her performance at Coachella 2022 Weekend 1, Rina sported another denim look, this time composed of embellished denim blazer and shorts, paired with a black studded bra and black cowboy boots. Her blue eye makeup ties everything together.

Rina was by far one of the best dressed guests at Paris Fashion Week. For Schiaparelli’s FW23 show she fully embraced the whimsical but minimalist spirit of the Maison by wearing oversized pendant earrings, and embellished cut-out mini dress, striped platform boots with a golden toe detail, and an embellished black leather bag. Her makeup perfectly compliments her outfit with slicked bangs and gold leaf appliques.

Red is another one of Rina’s staples, and the pop star isn’t one to shy away from bold prints. Here she is at the New York City premiere of her film John Wick: Chapter 4 wearing a full Thom Browne tartan and paisley ensemble.

While rehearsing for her UK tour, Rina opts for a simpler look: silver earrings, pale pink wraparound sunglasses, a metallic pink Diesel bodycon dress, and silver pointed boots.

Blokecore, a style inspired by the British soccer culture of the 1990s, has been one of the biggest trends this year, with the hashtag #blokecore reaching 285.8 million views on TikTok.

In an Instagram post expressing her support for the Lionesses—England women’s national soccer team—and promoting her single Hold the Girl, Rina wears a Lionesses soccer jersey, a black midi denim skirt, white knee-high socks, and white mules from the Martine Rose x Nike collab.

Rina Scholaryama! As a Cambridge University alumna, Rina was recently invited to attend an interview at the university’s Student Union. For the occasion, our favourite academic wore purple sunglasses, an oversized black leather biker jacket, a white and purple print slip dress, and zebra print knee high boots.

As it turns out, Rina is also a Succession fan! In an Instagram post captioned “gaslight, gatekeep, girlboss, Gerri xxxxxxxxx #succession”, Rina pays tribute to Waystar Royco’s General Counsel and interim CEO, Gerri Kellman, by sporting the ultimate girlboss look: pendant earrings, square frameless spectacles, a pinstripe suit comprised of a cropped jacket and a mini skirt, and black pumps.

Another denim look! For her performance at the NME Magazine Awards, Rina channelled her version of Penny Lane with a fur trimmed denim coat, denim hot pants, and silver knee-high boots. Her dancers also wore denim to match!

Rina attended the Elton John AIDS Foundation charity viewing party wearing a high-neck asymmetrical snake print Givenchy gown, and a white leather mini purse.
