Spotty Looks That Are Surprisingly Chic

If you’d have told us five years ago, nay, two years ago, that we’d be right into spots, we’d have told you Donald Trump would have as much chance as being elected President of the United States. And so, here we are, rediscovering our childhood obsession with dots, spots and all things repeating circle print. It’s as if our inner six-year-old has taken over and is absolutely luh-ving the current array of bespotted pieces.

Now let’s not pretend styling this pattern is a walk in the park. Dots and spots are notorious for being one of the most challenging prints to pull off. The secret is either letting the item with spots on it become the centre piece, as you use your other clothes/accessories to highlight it, or its pattern has to be matched with another striking print. It’s one or the other. When you’re wearing spots you need to establish a contrast, and the spotty pattern either has to be the clear focus, with block colour garments paired with it, or it needs to be contested by another bold pattern, such as stripes. The latter is slightly harder to achieve, but both options are totally doable.
