Jung Ee Eun
Founded in 2009 in Seoul, South Korea, Jung Ee Eun turns unusual elements like wax and paint drippings into gold and silver, giving new meaning to the term luxury jewelry. For Jung, it’s the ability to pay attention to these often overlooked details that shape her designs and inspires her to create.
These aren’t just pieces to tuck away for a special occasion either. Simplistic enough to compliment even the most minimal outfit but beautiful enough to get heads turning on a night out, this jewelry is the perfect conversation starter to wear every day.
Bug
Bug began its journey from a very chilly, slightly disorganized garage to where it is today: a label of whimsy and imagination. Unsure of a path to take after graduating from the The School of Jewellery in 2010, Ellie Ingram started making a handful of designs for friends and family in her spare time. As more and more orders poured in, Ingram decided to work on her line full time.
Whether you’re a fan of baked beans, tea and toast or simply want to wear something a little off the beaten path, Bug’s eclectic mix of design means there’s something for everyone — and each and every piece is handcrafted in Birmingham’s legendary Jewelry Quarter.
Tessa Metcalfe
As a born and bred Londoner, Tessa Metcalfe is no stranger to birds. Having spent her childhood watching pigeons, she developed a deep fascination for the birds and later began experimenting with taxidermy. Her desire to never let anything go to waste lead to late night sessions cleaning and casting birds feet and the result is an amazing candy-colored collection of precious stones and jewels that are dramatic and striking.
Turning her artistic eye towards our feathered friends, pigeons are reinvented into beautiful clasps for sapphire stones and pearls, ranging from show-stopping necklaces to fantastical rings.
Bijoux de Famille
Parisian Designer Julie Pasquet graduated from the renown Duperré Fashion School in Paris. She perfected her training at prestigious French labels like Christian Lacroix and Barbara Bui, as well as at younger studios such as “Les Bijoux de Sophie” in Paris and Eddie Borgo in New York. Through her love of world travel and jewelry, a brand was born.
Pasquet loves to play with anything that crosses her hand, endlessly transforming what surrounds her into fun pieces. Her motto: offsetting techniques, materials and subject matters, which translates into jewelry collections that not only poke fun with adornment but embrace it.
MYSTIC FORMS
MYSTIC FORMS is a jewelry label by London-based Japanese artist Akiko Ban, co-directed with design studio Tamassy Creative.
Akiko is known for her lively drawings and sculptures that seek to establish a primitive, naturalistic and spiritual view of the world. In the process of creating this ‘wearable art’, she aims to create special, theatrical art objects that act as props to convert the wearer into an art piece themselves.
Tadam! Design
Our modern society’s fascination with foodporn has bred its share of creativity. And that’s how Tadam! was born – “cooking” beautiful gourmet treats out of finely crafted ceramics to create a range of fun and flavor-packed jewellery. Made with fine materials including delicate 24K gold sprinkles and gleaming colored lacquers, Tadam!’s design bridge a fine line between incredibly realistic recreations of sweet treats and luxury jewelry.
Deliciously decadent replicas that smell realistic – the strawberry and chocolate doughnut will have your mouth watering, while a slab of dark chocolate provides some chocolatey aphrodisiac aroma – these are wearable treats served up in an irresistible, scented pastry box.
Momocreatura
Inspired by fairy tale illustrations, artistic sculpture and some very twisted humor, Momocreatura’s animal-filled collection is enchanting, provocative and just a little bit disconcerting — all at once. Bunnies, snakes, starfish and tiny baby skulls all jostle for your attention, and they’ll certainly grab it.
These aren’t your ordinary critters that you’ll find strolling through the woods. An axe and a bleeding bunny head form a pair of earrings, while a sinuous snake winds perilously over a delicate silver star pendant. Equal parts pretty and profane, this is jewelry with an undeniably dark, beautiful twist, and we can’t get enough.
Kate Gilliland
Dead animal carcasses turned into precious jewelry might not be what you’d envision as your next must-have accessory, but somehow, Katie Gilliland makes it work. Taking her inspiration from found animal parts, she casts them into a new form of life with the help of precious metals.
The delicacy of her findings —from slim, tiny bones to crab claws — quickly become wearable natural history when transformed into jewelry. Slightly strange but undoubtedly lovely, these pieces are a great way of adding a whimsical little twist to your look.
