Which ‘GIRLS’ Character Are You?
The final season of GIRLS premieres this Sunday and we’re absolutely devastated. Since 2012 Lena Dunham’s been using the the journeys of Hannah, Marnie, Jessa and Shoshanna to depicting the 20-something’s inelegant course through adulthood.
At the end of this series, GIRLS will be no more. Yet we have a conspiracy theory that their lives might appear on the silver screen in coming years. After all, it’s a little too coincidental that the show that’s been dubbed the Sex and the City for Millennials, is also leaving our TV screens at the end of six seasons like its SATC predecessor…
In the meantime, while you begin to mourn the end of GIRLS TV edition, comfort yourself with the below quiz to find out who really is your GIRLS alter ego.
1. What is your current relationship status?
A) Married.
B) In a relationship.
C) It’s complicated.
D) Single.
2. It’s the weekend. What are your plans?
A) Probably writing, hitting up the gym, then going to this private music session at my partner’s friend’s friend’s apartment.
B) Dunno! I like to keep it loose.
C) I might go to a reading at this new bookstore, walking around my local market, then to a party in Bushwick. You know; just exploring, trying to figure out who I am.
D) Meeting up with a friend at 9am for coffee and a walk around West Village, then catching up with another friend for brunch at 11, seeing an ex colleague-now-friend at 3pm for this really cool international film marathon in Brooklyn, and then spending all of Sunday at a museum (I haven’t figured out which one yet).
3. You’re going to a party. What do you wear?
A) Mm, old Me would’ve worn a sleeveless knee length dress with a V neck and with a kind of flow-y skirt. New Me? I mean, I’ll probably wear this maxi dress that’s sleeveless and has a V neck and flow-y skirt, but it’s a totally different aesthetic.
B) Whatever’s clean. And comfortable.
C) Something that I can dance in. I got this really cool top from a vintage store that’s got this really cool kitten appliqué thing going on. I like that it’s a subtle commentary on the current political climate and feminist issues we face today.
D) Well, it will totally depend on the type of crowd that’s going. Like, if they’re more indie-hipster, then I’ll probably wear something distressed and slouchy / kind of grunge-y. If it’s a more arty crowd, then I’ll something like my metallic silver skirt and bright pink sweater; something more structured and statement-y, y’know?
4. You’re at a bar. What do you order.
A) Vodka, lime and soda, or beer.
B) I don’t; I drink whatever’s sent to me. Bars have the nicest people.
C) Beer, wine, whatevs; it’s alcohol!
D) A piña colada if I’m feeling fun; a Manhattan if I’m in a serious mood; an apple martini if I’ve had a big day…
5. In the next five years you want to achieve…?
A) I just want to keep creating, whether that’s making music, writing songs for other recording artists, maybe exploring my art in other areas. I’d like to write a memoir and maybe open a collective space for people to work on their projects. Collaboration, y’know?
B) ‘Five years?’ Dude, I don’t know what I’m doing in the next five hours.
C) I definitely want to have published a book, maybe be asked to return to my alma mater as a keynote speaker for a graduation, possibly start a PhD but these days I don’t know if it’s too pretentious to do because you can basically get the same experience just from living, rather than writing a thesis about a specific topic. But it’s still something I’m thinking about. Umm…
D) Um, in the next five years I plan on founding my own digital start-up, joining the board of a really important charity, building my personalised jewellery brand, and hopefully being able to afford my own apartment.

Mostly As – Marnie
You used to be uptight, Miss Prim ’n’ Proper, but that was so You 2013. Right now you’re just exploring your creativity and focusing on what you contribute to the world. Obviously you want to be super-famous, but like, if your art can positively impact people’s lives, that’s awesome. It doesn’t hurt that your current partner is mad-hot.
Mostly Bs – Jessa
You’re the free spirit with just as much bite and you have boho coursing through your veins. Everything you do is a reaction to what the universe brings to you. Energy, man, it’s all fluid. Sure, you might be a bit of a flake, but you’re a loyal friend who, when you eventually turn up to the party (metaphorically and literally), turns up! Plus the wild stories you’ll have to share are worth the wait.
Mostly Cs – Hannah
It’s not often you’re not embroiled in some existential crisis or personal drama. As brilliantly clever as you are, you have, on occasion, been described as selfish and seem to attract bizarre situations. But it’s not your fault, they just happen! Though you’ve done some shitty things and never say no to the party favours, when all’s said and done, your friends know they can count on you.
Mostly Ds – Shoshanna
Some people call you kooky, some think you’re crazy. But to your friends, you’re just eccentric. And right when anyone’s about to write you off, you come out with an incredibly insightful, poignant observation about life. You’re still figuring out the whole boy ‘thing,’ but you don’t mind; you’re too busy becoming a successful career woman to care.
