Menswear trend alert: The bolder, the better

Spring 2019 is every guy’s chance at standing out and dressing like their favourite celebrity. Kanye West’s neutrals are not what this season’s all about. In fact, it’s the absolute opposite.

This season can be summed up in 4 words: The bolder the better. There’s no reason to go undercover and camouflage in neutral hues. Instead, go for bright, electric fashion items. That’s what Spring 2019 is all about in menswear.

Menswear designers like Virgil Abloh of Louis Vuitton & Off-White, Comme Des Garçsons, Raf Simons & Dior released pieces in bright reds, greens, blues and neons. Basically, any colour of the rainbow, but brighter. But how do you go from wearing the darkest colours all winter to standing out on the streets? Here are a few street style options that are super easy to copy.

Highlighter neon green and royal blue go really well together. Who would have thought?! Here, the two pieces are being paired with some black pants to kind of tone down the look. The pieces work very well together but could easily be worked into other outfits on their own.

If you’re not as bold as the first guy, try pairing a bright neon with a neutral outfit. Here, the neon green top is layered with a lighter pinky-beige top and a camel blazer and trousers. The neon acts as the pop of colour, while the rest of the outfit is quite monochromatic.

Instead of buying a bunch of clothing items in various different bright colours, go for some accessories instead. Here, a black and white denim set is paired with a yellow crossbody bag. This gives the overall look a little bit of edge, the necessary pop of colour and you don’t break the bank!
