Shoes with animal print patterns: Letting the cat out of the bag
Animal print’s biggest fan was Josephine Baker. The dancer, who stole the hearts of her audience dancing the Charleston in 1920s Paris, was a true believer in the power of the print. Not only did she keep an actual leopard as a pet and enjoyed taking him shopping with her, but even her extravagant sports car showed her soft spot for exotic animals. The seats were made with real snake leather. But not everyone has to display their love of animal prints to such an extreme. A subtle alternative, for example, is a pair of shoes with animal print patterns. Snake, leopard, zebra and all of their furry friends are great for decorating the outer material and the sole. This is how to make your shoes look grrrrrrrrrrrrreat:
Fake snake
A tight-fitting outfit goes very well with flat sneakers or moderate creepers (sporty shoes with wide ribbed soles) with snake patterns. Among other pieces, skinny jeans and slim tops or shirts with simple cuts, subtle collars and fitted jackets or blouson jackets work wonders. This outfit isn’t too sexy and revealing. A note for the ladies: Mini tube dresses and the like are far too low cut. Pants and tops should be in a single color, preferably black or gray, and pick up on one of the colors of the shoes.
Tiger paws
Shoes with tiger stripes, leopard spots or other wild cat patterns can be worn with jeans (plain or eye-catching with washed flares) in all denim colors, cloth pants in black, frayed, colorful shorts or clean miniskirts. Keep a safe distance from combinations that are too wild. It’s best to stick to the animal theme for your accessories. A bag with the same animal print harmonizes very well. An extra tip for women: Tights with animal print patterns are a little too much in combination with animal shoes. On the other hand, tights in the same color as the shoes look much better. Go for warm brown tones instead of black with this look to get really gorgeous legs.
Zebra stripes
The black and white pattern of zebra print shoes is perfect for a contrast look with black and white items of clothing. Here, you are free to choose your cut – oversized or skinny – and your style – elegant or sporty – and you can mix up your tops and bottoms.
Shoes with animal print patterns are still beloved among the stars: Heidi Klum, Miranda Kerr and Jessica Alba love their reptile and feline friends.
