What’s the Skinny? The Dos and Don’ts of Skinny Pants for Men

While searching for a set of skinny pants may appear to be a tedious task, it’s no different than looking for a pair of trousers and jeans. Size, fit and length are all things that have to be considered. But the one thing that does change when it comes to your skinny jeans is how you wear them.

Here are a few things you should keep in mind when slipping into your skinnies.

Do: Wear your skinny pants loud and proud. Just because they hug your legs tighter than a regular pant, doesn’t make them any less manly. Whether you prefer a slim-fitting jogger or skinny jeans, you’ll look stylishly lean in them.

Don’t: Don’t wear skinny pants that are two sizes too small. Not only can you possibly cut off your own circulation, but you’ll barely be able to walk. When choosing your skinnies, finding the right size is essential to achieving a perfect fit.

Do: Tuck your skinny pants into your shoes. They’ll slip right into a tall boot and may even be able to squeeze into a high-top shoe. If you prefer to leave them untucked, cuff the hem.

Don’t: Never attempt to slip the bottoms of your skinny pants over a high-top or knee-high shoe. The outline of the shoe will show up underneath and even stretch the fabric of the pants. If you want to cover up your footwear, it’s best to wear a bootcut style.

Do: Layer up on top when wearing your skinnies. Since your pants are clinging tightly to your legs, a thick shirt, sweater or jacket creates balance for your ensemble.

Sliding on a pair of skinny pants isn’t as intimidating as you may think. Follow these simple rules and wear them with confidence.
