4 Boots For Looking Good When The Weather Isn’t

For many women, winter is a time when unfortunately function takes precedent over fashion. But is it possible to stay warm without falling victim to seasonal dressing faux pas all for the sake of terrible weather?

When the temperatures dip, a smart dresser has a few key moves, one being a proper winter boot. Here are four styles to keep you looking good even when the weather isn’t.

A Slushy Commute

We all have those mornings when the weather is so relentless, and the snow has turned into such a deceptively deep pile of slush that you risk ruining your skirt, tights and socks as well as your shoes. Those days call for wearing a rubber snow boot with shearling lining and changing into heels once you arrive at the office. No one at work will ever know you trudged through the snowy terrain.

Chilly But Nice

When the air is freezing but the weather is actually nice, it’s time to break out the boots that are banned from rain, sleet and snow. A simple and cozy pair of suede mukluks are the perfect off-duty boot for hitting the park or catching up with friends at brunch.

Your Feet Are Frostbitten

Even with the sun out and your boots on, nothing is safe when a dreaded wind-chill hits. Give your feet a fighting chance against frostbite with a comfortable set of fur-lined boots. Consider them the footwear equivalent of enveloping yourself in a warm, heated blanket. Your feet, and toes, will thank you.

It’s Precipitating

When the snow or rain or both (cue sleet) starts falling, you can forget about wearing your leather pumps or suede knee-high boots.  Don a pair of weather-proof nylon boots with a pair of jeans and a tee and no one need know that they are a) heavy duty and b) lined with shearling to keep your toes from going numb. Think of them as weighty but sophisticated slippers.

Don’t dwell on what to wear to warmly see you through winter. Wade through the storms and sub-zero temps with the proper weather-approved gear. And remember, if all else fails, at least you’ll have boots to brave the cold.

When the weather gets rough, gear up in these tough winter boots.
