The 3 biggest TikTok beauty trends of the year
TikTok obsessed? Who, us? It’s okay, we’ll be the first to admit our love for the app has known no bounds this year (don’t pretend we’re alone though). From TikTok beauty hacks to skincare miracle products, we turn to the app time and time again for instant (and addictive) inspiration. To take it one step further, we looked at our own Stylight data and found out which TikTok beauty trends inspired real-life shopping habits in 2020. Which Gen-Z trends made a big impact this year? Scroll to find out.
Euphoria-style eyeliner
The neon, textured, bold, and colourful eye makeup looks from HBO’s Euphoria-inspired legions of makeup-enthused TikToker’s this year. With more and more people inching towards graphic eyeliner looks, it’s no surprise that Stylight’s eyeliner category experienced a +351% increase in clicks in fall 2020 compared to the previous year.
Soap brows
Soap brows are the lazy girl beauty trend we’ve been waiting for our entire lives for. As demonstrated by TikTokers, simply brush a dry brow brush onto a wet bar of soap until it’s thoroughly coated and use the product to comb your brows through for maximum volume. The best thing about the trend? Cleanup is a breeze.
Concealer hacks
From the ‘Fox Eye’ concealer trick to covering a face full of blemishes, we’ve learned more concealer hacks from TikTokers this year than our beauty junkie selves could ever have dreamt up. Speaking of, the unofficial TikTok concealer of the year, Tarte Shape Tape, has seen a massive increase in popularity in both the app and on Stylight, seeing a 34% jump in clicks between October and November 2020.
