5 Hard-To-Kill Apartment Friendly Plants
Succulents
Planted alone or matched together, succulents are one of the easiest (and cutest) plants to take care of. Display your pillowy plants on a windowsill or in an area where they can soak up some sun. Give their soil a tall glass of water once a week to help them flourish.
Pot It: Fill a terrarium with succulents of all sizes to create the most diverse plant family out there.
Cacti
These prickly plants are known for being the biggest sunbathers ever. Their tough as nails exterior has allowed them to survive in even the harshest of deserts, making your apartment seem like a heavenly oasis. Like their leafy relatives, succulents, they need plenty of light and water only once a week.
Pot It: Plant your cacti in a windowsill planter so they can be as close to their one true love as possible—the sun.
Orchids
You may love the smell of roses, but not the upkeep that comes with them. Opt for orchids that produce just as much of a sweet scent, but look so much more original. All they need is water once a week to bloom beautifully.
Pot It: Choose a white, circular planter to have your orchid in for a chic, clean look.
Spider Plant
Have no fear—there are no arachnids here. The spider plant only gets its name from the way its slender leaves resemble a spider’s shape. You only need to water it occasionally, and we promise you won’t find any cobwebs lingering around.
Pot It: Get creative with the pot you choose to have your spider plant in. Paint a plain one with bright colors, cover it with tons of glitter or place it in a hanging planter.
Aloe
You’ve probably had this nourishing plant plenty of times in beauty products or medical treatments. Now you can have the green goodness in its natural form right at home and use it to the best of its abilities. The fleshy plant is very low maintenance, needing water only when its soil appears dry.
Pot It: Use a quirky decor piece to place your aloe vera in like an edgy skull that contradicts its healing properties.
